Welcome to Literacy & Learning Excellence Academy! I’m Dr. DeLaShell Thornton, and I’m thrilled to share our summer camp experience that enhances students' Reading and Math skills while ensuring they have a great time. What sets our camp apart is our skills-based approach, supporting students where they are in their learning rather than by grade. We also monitor progress weekly to ensure continuous growth and throughout the school year. Join us for a summer filled with fun, development, and unforgettable memories!
My Story
Education has always been more than a career for me—it’s a calling.
I bring over 12 years of experience in education and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Reading Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. In my current role as an Instructional Coach within a Louisiana school system, I support and empower educators to implement effective, research-based practices that strengthen student learning. I work closely with teachers to assess student progress, analyze data, and make intentional instructional decisions that meet the needs of diverse learners. My passion for education is deeply personal, shaped by my own experiences as a learner and further inspired by my son’s journey with dyslexia, which fuels my commitment to helping all students reach their full potential.
